Chatto & Windus became Collins's main publishers in
England, ultimately issuing 29 titles. Previously, most editions had
been published by Bentley, Sampson Low and Smith, Elder. |
The main translated editions were from Hachette and Hetzel
in Paris; Janke in Berlin; Fratelli Treves in Milan; and Belinfante in the
Hague. In Leipzig, Tauchnitz issued most Collins titles in English. |
The main publishers in North America were Harpers in New
York and Hunter, Rose in Toronto. There was a multitude of
interconnected pirate publishers such as Peterson, Monro, Lovells, Lupton
and Belford, Clarke. |
