Francis
Collins was Wilkie Collins's uncle, the younger brother of
William
Collins.He
was described as a sweet-natured man who was very popular with his
nephews, Wilkie and Charles. Francis Collins was knowledgeable about art
and artists, though without worldly or artistic ambition.He followed his father's occupation of art-dealer and picture restorer.In 1833 he contracted typhus and after lapsing into violent delirium died
on 5 October.
